An award-winning initiative is asking us to look around our wardrobes, attics and garages for any unwanted outdoor clothes and equipment so that it can be donated to organisations encouraging the next generation to get outdoors.
Many young people say that the lack of clothing and equipment is the reason they do not take up outdoor physical activities – after all it’s hard to enjoy your early experiences in the outdoors when you’re cold, wet and uncomfortable! Sarah Howcroft, founder of Gift Your Gear explains, “lots of outdoor clothing and equipment we no longer use still has a lot of life left in it. Most outdoor gear will last much longer than we want or need it to, its full potential is never realised”.
Any outdoor gear you can donate will make a real difference to the community organisations, youth groups and charities who receive it – enabling others to benefit from life-changing experiences in the great outdoors regardless of their circumstances.
The initiative has partnered with Rohan, meaning you can drop off any gear you want to donate to any Rohan shop during March:
