description

From Pateley Bridge we follow the Nidderdale Way along Panorama Walk uphill to Blazefield, visiting the remains of an ancient church along the way. We then head east through farmland and along various tracks to Brimham Rocks where we will visit a trig point and then have a lunch break. If the weather is okay we will have an extended break to give people chance to explore a little. There are toilets at Brimham Rocks and drinks/ice creams are usually on sale too.

We then head south through fields and woodland down to Low Laithe. This part of the walk is likely to be muddy, especially after rainfall.

We follow the River Nidd all the way back to Pateley Bridge.

In terms of grade, it's the top-end of yellow smiley (leisurely) as it a bit more challenging than the average yellow smiley walk.

From the outset this walk involves walking uphill. The second half is downhill to the river then flat all the way back to the start. The paths are rocky and uneven in many places and at times the path along the river is very narrow. We will have to walk in single file at the side of a road on a couple of occasions. Everyone needs to take care at Brimham Rocks, watch out for sheer drops when exploring.

*Meal after the walk*
A table has been reserved for a meal at The Crown in Pateley Bridge after the walk at 5pm. Places are limited. If you would like to book a place please contact the walk leader in advance. We may need to pre-order.

If you're just coming to the walk and not the meal there is no need to book, just turn up on the day.

*Paying for Parking*
It's a bargain at £1.80 for all day but please be aware that the machine only accepts coins.

There are free public toilets close to the meeting point.

If you’re a Ramblers member please bring along your membership card (or digital version).
