ramblers Yorkshire

the ramblers West Riding area

The Harrogate Group of Ramblers is an active local group of the national walking charity the Ramblers.

On all other Saturdays we have a more local walk of around ten miles.  These walks might be at Masham or Pateley Bridge, or nearer home – maybe Wetherby or Beckwithshaw.

Our group also monitors planning applications near footpaths, responds to consultation on path extinguishments and diversions, and has an interest in other countryside matters. Over the years we have devised The Harrogate Ringway, The Knaresborough Round and the Link to The Dales Way.

The Harrogate Group was formed in 1969 and is part of the West Riding Area. We cover Nidderdale from Great Whernside to Green Hammerton, extending northward to Burton Leonard and south to North Rigton. This area includes 62 parishes and 550 miles of footpaths and bridleways. Our area includes much of the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
