The West Riding Area AGM will be at 14:00 on the 31st January 2025 and all area members are welcome to join.

We have two walks before the AGM
Walk 1 - The Otley (Literature) Run Starting at 10am
Walk 2 - A walk round some of Leeds' architectural highlights Starting at 11am
Both Walks finishing around 13:30
There will be light refreshments before the AGM at 13:45 with the meeting starting at 14:00, followed by tea, coffee and biscuits at the end of
proceedings.

We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you for the years of service at the Area Council.
We now have a new Chair in Steve Rawlings, all other positions remain unchanged and re-elected for another year.

Hill-top artworks
There are many public sculptures in towns and villages, but few have been commissioned from contemporary artists for hill-tops in the region. If any such are encountered by chance, they can either be a welcome surprise or, for the purist, appear as an annoying irruption into unspoiled countryside. The examples below, which all require some effort to reach, exclude established formal monuments such as Wainman’s Pinnacle, Cracoe Obelisk, or fancy view-indicators.
Bradford Faith Trail: A multicultural ramble
Have you ever wanted to meet others of different faiths and cultures, hear their story, and see how their faith guides their lives? If so, there is an opportunity, open to all, to learn more by joining the Bradford Faith Trail. This is a pilgrimage through different faiths, walking only one mile across Bradford, joining religions and cultures and communities in very close proximity. So, this is a ramble with a difference, and yet offers an experience which transports you across the cultures of different continents.
LWR Footpath Maintenance Team Go ‘Off Piste’ To Help NYC
Following a request from North Yorkshire Council, Lower Wharfedale Ramblers agreed to leave their traditional territory and install two new footpath gates near Boroughbridge. Both gates replaced existing stiles on a popular footpath through the Roecliffe Estate linking Ripon and Boroughbridge. The path follows the banks of the River Ure opposite the popular Newby Hall.
